PASSIONATE PURSUIT...JESUS IS THE DOOR, WILL YOU GO IN?

​ACTS 3:1-10
Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called beautiful, to an alms of them that entered into the temple;
Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
And Peter fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, look on us.
And he gave heed unto them expecting to receive something of them.
Then Peter said, silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankles bones received strength.
And he heaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
Peter and John have teamed up to go forth compelling man and women to surrender, repent, and be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. James, having once been part of the group, was appointed to the scattered abroad. The two had been used to work signs, miracles, and wonders and pleading with those with a spiritual ear to hear to receive of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost.
They went to the temple aa the appointed time known as the hour of prayer. Perhaps seeking to know the will of the spirit having just left Jerusalem, desiring to know how the Lord would move them next. However, as they were approaching the temple there was seen a certain man lame from the mother’s womb. He was carried there and laid daily at the gate of the temple called Beautiful. His intent for being there was to ask an alm of those entering in. This man was born lame. We must understand that what we see manifest in the natural has already existed first spiritually. Some of us have had circumstances that have had us tied up spiritually unable to move forward and have our being. Some have been born into debilitating circumstances. Yet is wasn’t because of the sins of our mother or father, but so that the Lord Jesus Christ could be glorified through our life perpetually. Someone loved him enough to pick him up everyday and they took him consistently to the same place laying him there and picking him up. They showed forth the brotherly loving kindness and faithfulness. They would bring him to the gate…the door…the entrance with hope that by going there he would make a living or get his “daily bread/provision.” The gate was called Beautiful…
Psalm 27:4
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.
The place where the Lord is desiring to do a work is a beautiful place. It is a place where man and women desire to be. There is love there. There is peace there. It wasn’t a dreadful, nasty, filthy place. It was clean, holy…a place that drew you nearer. There should be a beauty of the Lord that doesn’t make you want to stand outside of the gate, but draws you toward him…running to righteousness!
Psalm 24:3
Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Who shall stand in his Holy place?
He that hath clean hands and pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Lift up your heads, o ye gates; and be lift up, ye everlasting doors: and the king of glory shall come in.
David cried unto God to open the gates of righteousness and he would go in, and he would praise the Lord. Sometimes our circumstances or spiritual conditions can interfere with us entering the doors that the Lord has opened unto us. Life’s hindrances and situations cometimes have us in a place where we can’t see the beauty of the Lord and the “everlasting doors.” We must lift up our heads to see the glory of God. To do so on occasion requires a spiritual physician. Call upon him and he will hear. Sometimes we can go through so many strides from the outside of the gate to receive the wrong thing from others who have already surrendered to serve and have entered in to the promise. We can go through so much just to get to the door with the wrong intention or expectation. He asked an alm, a temporary thing. He was seeking for something that wouldn’t last, the cares of this life. Petere and John commanded him to look at them. There are times when it takes an encouraging word of true disciple to say look at us. We are not that great. We don’t have silver and gold, but we have a promise from God. Look at us, we are meek and of lowly estate. Look at us, we are humble servants. We are just doing the will and purpose of Christ. God is not asking much of us. He just wants us to live him with our whole heart. He will do the work in us. He will heal. He will deliver, but we need to have the expectation of the dispensation of his Holy Spirit. The man then began to pay attention to what he was saying. He heard them say they didn’t have natural cares. They didn’t have what he was asking for. However, they were willing to impart in obedience what they did have and what he needed to live in Christ. What they had was the ability to heal and they commanded him to rise up, and walk. His friends could take him only so far. They let him off at the gate everyday to make a choice. They didn’t have all he needed to enter. Once being healed he could grasp a hold of the right hand of fellowship and be lifted up to a higher place in Christ Jesus, then could he enter with rejoicing and praise.
