PASSIONATE PURSUIT...WHAT'S THAT ABOUT LOVE?

​Colossians 3:12-14
 
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
 
The Lord commands us through His apostle, Paul, to put on these virtues as they were garments. He says as the elect, meaning not just called but also chosen and therefore qualified. We should be seen operating in meekness, humility, longsuffering, and full of mercy towards one another.
 
The purified love of Christ hopes for all things and bears all things, including one another. If we’re bearing each other, then we’re also forgiving one another as Christ has forgiven us. The Lord reminds us also to put on charity/love, which is above all things and it is the bond of perfectness. Therefore, if Jesus Christ is returning for a body without spot or wrinkle and without blame, then charity must be reigning. Love covers a multitude of sins, and without charity we be as sounding brass or as salt that has lost its savor. Let us hold fast to do the simplicity of instruction given, which is to love the Lord thy God with our whole heart, and to love our neighbor as ourselves or even as Christ has loved us.
