LUKE 4:17-18
AND THERE WAS DELIVERED UNTO HIM THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET ESAIAS AND WHEN HE HAD OPENED THE BOOK, HE FOUND THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS WRITTEN, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE HATH ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKEN HEARTED, TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERING OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET AT LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED. TO PREACH THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.
 There are so many ways which the Lord moves by His Spirit to heal. The first thing mentioned numerous times while going forth with ministry is that there is a pre-requisite for healing which is the need for forgiveness. Sometimes unforgiven sins can be the root that has attached itself to the natural realm in the form of sickness. The circumstance could simply require repentance. In other instances, there may be a need to forgive themselves. We mentioned forgiveness in previous writings, yet, as a friendly reminder we must hold dear to the fact that in order for a complete work of healing to take place we must get to the root of things. People have stronghold that sometimes surface because of unforgiven sins and repentance is the cure.
The Lord announced when going forth with his ministry that He was anointed for the very purpose of dispensing the word to the poor and to mend the broken hearts. Healing brought forth deliverance and through deliverance sight was restored to blind eyes.
The anointing breaks the yoke. Throughout history and evil until now many poor do not have the gospel preached. These days we are living in the society where there is a lot of pomp and circumstance where the gospel is concerned. The prophets soothsay for gains and the people receive watered down word. They heap up to themselves their own teachers and what the poor get are the scraps and the leftovers from what’s supposed to be the house of bread. However, the Lord Jesus comes and his love is pure and unfeigned. He has no expectation other than true surrender.
As joint-heirs with Christ we should do the same things we have seen our fathers set the standard for us to do. He said a greater works will we do. Signs, miracles, and wonders will follow the believer. In unity with his Holy Spirit, we should men broken hearts. People are wounded. They are in pain because of failed relationships, abusive circumstances, loss and grief, or because of church hurts. The list of ways that brokenness occurs in a person’s life is long. However, Jesus Christ has given himself as the remedy. He has stated that a broken and contrite spirit he will in no wise cast away. He cared enough to give us access to his Spirit so that we wouldn’t feel the agony and pain of separation. Sin separates, but Jesus brings unity by His Spirit.
Along with mending brokenness, Jesus delivered believers from captivity. Meaning, when Jesus Christ reigns, we can have perfect peace in the midst of any storm. However, there have been some storms that people weren’t people to fight through. Some people have strongholds from their youth. Mothers and fathers weren’t actively involved in their lives or they may have witnessed some forms of abuse. While others simply may have been subject to generational curses from grandparents or parents. Yet, the Lord Jesus has given access to deliverance by the blood of the lamb and the word of His testimony. Deliverance comes through asking. He said ask and it shall be given. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the doors shall be opened. He has also has given access to deliverance through praise and worship. “Praise before promise.” Many accounts are mentioned in the Bible where praise and worship lifted spirits and brought forth compassion from the Lord to heal.
ISAIAH 61:3
TO APPOINT UNTO THEM THAT MOURN IN ZION, TO GIVE UNTO THEM BEAUTY FOR ASHES, THE OIL OF JOY FOR MOURNING, THE GRAMENT OF PRAISE FOR THE SPIRIT OF HEAVINESS, THAT THEY MIGHT BE CALLED TREES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, THE PLANTING OF THE LORD, THAT HE MIGHT BE GLORIFIED.
