It is necessary that I write to you concerning two things; forgiveness and idolatry. First, it is needful to share the truth regarding forgiveness in the sense that forgiveness with the Lord is a requirement to enter his kingdom and his forgiveness has conditions.
Matthew 6:14-15
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses neither will your father forgive your trespasses.
These passages of scripture include forgiving yourselves for coming short of expectations, the standards set by Jesus Christ, as well as coming short of standards we have set ourselves. When we hold unforgiveness towards ourselves, being a work of Christ, we put ourselves above the knowledge of Christ and with actions we are stating to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that His death and resurrection is not enough and His grace is not sufficient. This ought not be done. We are not the creator, but it is the Lord who has created all things.
Col 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers all things were created by him and for him.
Since He is shaping and making us, we cannot tell the potter what to make or ask, “What is it that thou makest?” Yet, we ourselves should decrease so that we yield to His Spirit and in unity with the father we trust that His work is a perfect work according to his will and purpose.
The Lord has pleaded with his children concerning idols. He said keep yourselves away from idols.
Eph. 5:5
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
So, we see that we operate in the sin of self-righteousness, covetousness, and idolatry when we hold ourselves to different standards than what Jesus has already established for us. Do not die a second death because you have made yourself to be an idol. In that is unfruitful works of darkness. Now therefore we can repent, arise from the dead, and walk as children of the light holding dear the inheritance that has been established for us though Jesus Christ. Forgive yourself. Trust the Lord and submit to him completely as the bridegroom. And you being the weaker vessel knowing that in Him is your strength made perfect.
