EZEKIEL 37
THE HAND OF THE LORD WAS UPON ME, AND CARRIED ME OUT IN THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD, AND SET ME DOWN IN THE MIDST OF THE VALLEY WHICH WAS FULL OF BONES, AND CAUSED ME TO PASS BY THEM ROUND ABOUT: AND, BEHOLD, THERE WERE VERY MANY IN THE OPEN VALLEY; AND, LO, THEY WERE VERY DRY.
AND HE SAID UNTO ME, SON OF MAN, CAN THESE BONES LIVE? AND I ANSWERED, O LORD GOD, THOU KNOWEST.
Ezekiel was a young Holy Prophet sent to prophesy the will and purpose of God unto the children of Israel even during a time of captivity because of their disobedience and iniquity. The Spirit of God came upon Ezekiel with the weight of His glory. Ezekiel knew it was the hand of God upon him. He was carried in the spirit realm and placed in a valley of bones.
Sometimes we see all sorts of spiritual situations around us. The situations can seem so dead. Financial situations, job loss, an unpleasant report from the doctor. When we behold with our natural eyes, situations can seem to be hopeless. The natural seems to be an impossible situation.
The Lord wanted Ezekiel to look around him. In the valley there were many people that had died; not a few. They were slaughtered. These things he saw spiritually. They had died and their bones had been very dry. Meaning there was no spirit.
The Lord communicated with his prophet. He seeks advice and counsel from His chosen ones. He desires fellowship with his children after asking Ezekiel to consider the situation, the Lord plainly asked him if he believed the bones could live. Ezekiel answered the Lord saying, thou knowest.
The prophets are the mouth of God, and they speak what thus saith the Lord. They do not speak on their own will or authority. They must speak what thus saith the Lord. By His Holy Spirit we speak those things that be not as though they were.
The Lord desires for us to be in unity with Him by His Spirit. He is willing to know what we think about things because He calls us friends. He considers our opinion when we trust him and desire to walk after His Spirit.
The prophet put the situation in the Lord’s hands and the Lord then instructed the prophet to prophesy to the dry bones, and say unto them, O’ ye dry bones, hear the Word of the Lord.
He commanded the prophet to speak to the situation/circumstance. He commanded the bones, first to hear. Hear what thus saith the Lord. There comes a point in time when we must stop giving heed to what the enemy is telling us about situations and hear what the Lord has to say. Let His Word reign in authority over our lives. He restored the hearing first and then restored life in Him.
We must lay aside every weight and sin and place it at the feet of Jesus Christ. He has the final say with situations and circumstances. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the first and the last. He is the originator of all things. He who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Christ Jesus. All things have been created for Him and by Him. Trust the Lord with our whole heart and stand tall on our most Holy faith.
